“Festival of Choirs 2008”

Faith in Action will hold its 4^th annual “Festival of Choirs” concert on Friday, May 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellsworth. A variety of community and church choirs will perform in a benefit concert for Faith in Action, a nonprofit that provides free volunteer services for the elderly and disabled in Hancock County.

Performing choirs in this year’s concert include a handbell choir from the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth, an interfaith children’s chorus from area churches, the Maine Women Balkan Choir, and church choirs from St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth and the Lamoine Baptist Church. A final piece will be performed by all the participants and will be directed by Bronwyn Kortege of the Bagaduce Chorale. A reception will follow the concert in the parish hall.

Donations for Faith in Action Community Connection will be accepted at the door. The program, now in its fifth year in the greater Ellsworth area, assists elderly and disabled Hancock County residents with services such as transportation, friendly visits, and help with chores and errands at no charge so that they can maintain independence.
