We ask that our volunteers attend a basic orientation and fill out a registration form. Orientations may be arranged with the Volunteer Coordinator at any time. Basic orientation takes about one hour.

Volunteers are also required to sign a confidentiality agreement to protect the privacy of those we help.

There is additional training required for volunteers who work with people with dementia or memory loss, who go into peoples’ homes as a friendly visitor, respite provider, or to help with chores. These trainings are about three hours long.

Volunteers also have the opportunity for continuing education through a spring volunteer event usually held in April with a guest speaker presenting a topic of interest for our volunteers. Volunteers can also receive continuing education through some of our Coalition partners and we inform volunteers of these opportunities as they arise.

In the past, Coalition member churches have put on suppers for our volunteers and their guests. These events are a gift to our volunteers.
